Linde Bosman – International Netball Coaching and Internship

Hi, I’m Linde. I completed my internship with United Through Sport in South Africa, and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Coaching children in townships was an eye-opening experience that taught me gratitude and the value of teamwork. I realised how fortunate I am and felt immense satisfaction in making a positive impact on the children’s lives. Seeing their smiles and knowing we were contributing to their happiness was incredibly fulfilling.

Living in a shared accommodation with other volunteers was another highlight. The place was super comfortable, and I met amazing people from around the world. We bonded over shared experiences and created memories that will last a lifetime. The weekends were packed with excursions that helped us bond even more. We did activities like bungee jumping, shark cage diving, and sandboarding, all of which pushed me to face my fears and boosted my confidence. If I could conquer those challenges, I felt I could tackle anything. One of the most unforgettable excursions was the safari. Witnessing South Africa’s wildlife up close was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The freedom to choose my internship tasks was another positive aspect. My supervisor was supportive and flexible, allowing me to focus on areas I found important. This autonomy made the internship even more enjoyable and tailored to my interests.

The support from the United Through Sport team was excellent. They were always there to assist and guide us, ensuring we had a fulfilling experience. I would definitely recommend this program to anyone looking to make a difference while having an adventure of a lifetime. The experience has left me with a deep appreciation for what I have and a desire to continue helping others. South Africa now holds a special place in my heart, thanks to the incredible journey with United Through Sport.
